Lakelands School

This is a scanned document that was on our family's private website. I thought it was interesting enough to share here as well. I think it's funny that I was so determined not to become a teacher, yet both my mother and my grandmother were teachers!

This is from my grandmother's school, Lakelands in 1934-1935. She would have been about twenty years old, I think. You can see her salary: Miss Giles - $95 per quarter. It seems the only other regular expense was chalk. Running a school in rural Nova Scotia in the 1930's seems pretty simple and cost effective!
