Natural Disasters- Round #2

So we survived Typhoon Aere the first week we were in Taipei, and then we had our first earthquake a few weeks ago. And here we go again. Last night, I was lying in bed, journalling about how I felt at home here, settled, and into a predictable rountine. Ironically, just as I was writing about predictability, the earthquake hit. We're on the third floor of the building, so I felt it a lot more than others did on the ground. Still, more fun than scary, everything is built to stand here. So earthquake #2 yesterday, and typhoon #2 tommorrow. Typhoon Nookdi (or something like that) is supposed to be the worst this year. We got the call 15 minutes ago that tommorrow is a typhoon day! (The taiwanese equivalent of a snow day). I was so excited I had to do a little dance. A day off!!! I can use one. And I have food and water, and I have no problem staying in all day and staying safe. So far my experience with natural disasters has been nothing less than joyous!
The only other news was that I am now comfortably set with my technology. We finally got the cable fixed for the internet on our apartment laptop, so it's so much easier now for me to post pictures every day. Then, I also bought that laptop I was talking about, and a printer (Canon s200 - just like the one I have at home, for about $50 CND) and an optical mouse for $4 CND. Today I spent most of the day rearranging and cleaning my room (it needed it) and now I have a little home office set up. Thankfully I brought all my curriculum stuff home on Friday, so I'll have everything I need to work on lesson plans and course structure all day tommorrow. Ah, life is good when the typhoon comes.
