And for one moment...the world makes sense.

Good news all! My uncanny and almost scary ability to diagram sentences has finally come in handy. Yes, I had my doubts that life would ever thrown diagraming my way, after the massive amount of brain power I devoted to mastering it in high school. But, my tutee started at an American school this semester, and has been thrown into Grade 7 A Beka Curriculum. He-he. He has all the same textbooks I used to love, and since he's starting mid-year, he's been thrown into the deep end of DIAGRAMMING. So I'm helping him with it. And it's all coming back, the tricky slanted line for the predicate nominative, the illusive dotted line for adjective clauses! I do have a few things I can't remember, but overall, I have it deeply ingrained from studying it so much. Yes, it's obsolete in the North American education system, and really doesn't help students learn English, but, by golly, I love it. When I diagram, life makes sense.
