The weekend flower market by Da-an park is quite a beautiful Taipei experience. Well, other than the mass of jostling people who have much smaller personal space bubbles than I. About half of the market is orchid sellers, which is by far the most popular flower in Taiwan. Kathleen couldn't believe that the orchids really are hardy, and virtually indestructible. You don't even have to water them, just sit in your room and enjoy for a month! We both bought some, in our favorite colours. Guess how much? About $4 CND a pop!
