Christmas Eve I went home for a 1 hour light nap, then back to school for the equivalent of a company Christmas dinner, somewhat reminiscent of Toronto Hydro (my one and only other experience with such a thing). So much food, it surrounded us on three sides of the gym, end to end buffet tables. But the good news (for the Gilroys at least) was that as soon as everyone had finished eating all they could, out came the take-home bags and boxes, and everyone started piling up a doggy bag. And it was completely culturally the norm. I got a lovely selection of Christmas cake ~ although I don't really need any more sweets after this weekend! The evening's entertainment was big screen Karaoke, which seemed excessively popular, we put in a request for Frosty the Snowman, but our song didn't come up before we left. (I wasn't exactly heartbroken ~ humiliation isn't that much better in a group).
